History
Pan menonita comes from the state of Chihuahua, among the Mennonite colonies that arrived from Germany and Canada from 1882 onwards: some nine thousand people granted farmland on the condition that they worked it. The dough is made with wheat flour, cream, sugar, egg, baking powder, baking soda and salt, and is brushed with egg just before going into the oven, which gives it its characteristic shine.
Cultural Notes
